Move Your SDS Binder Into HazComFast Without Retyping It

Your chemical list lives in a spreadsheet, a paper binder or another SDS system. Here is exactly how it comes over, what to get ready, and who does what.

To switch to HazComFast, export your chemical list to CSV or Excel, or type it into the free template, and import it: the product name is the only column required, common column names are matched for you, and a product already in your inventory is never doubled. Then upload the SDS PDFs you keep and print a label and a QR code for every container.

Get the names right on the way in. OSHA wants the chemical list to use “a product identifier that is referenced on the appropriate safety data sheet” (29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i)). Spell each product the way its SDS spells it, and your list, your sheets and your labels will match when an inspector compares them.

Bring the spreadsheet

Drop in a CSV, XLSX or XLS file. HazComFast reads the header row and matches the columns it recognizes, so “Supplier”, “CAS No” or “Chemical Name” land in the right place without a macro. You check the matches, fix anything it missed, and import. Starting from scratch? Download the CSV template or the Excel one, which comes with instructions and examples.

  • Product name (the only column you need)
  • Manufacturer or supplier
  • CAS number
  • Signal word
  • GHS pictograms
  • Hazard statements (H codes)
  • Precautionary statements (P codes)
  • Link to the SDS

Before anything is saved, every row with a problem is listed with its row number. CAS numbers are checked against their check digit, GHS pictograms are recognized whether your file says GHS02, GHS2 or “flammable”, and a product already in your inventory is skipped instead of doubled.

Bring the sheets

Upload the SDS PDFs you already keep. The AI reads first aid, fire-fighting, PPE and GHS data out of each sheet and fills the product record, so nobody types Section 4 by hand. Every plan includes AI extractions every month, from 5 on the free plan to 200 on Pro.

Coming from paper or from another system

From a paper binder: type the product names into the template, one per line, and upload the sheets you have. The inventory flags the products still missing a sheet, so the gaps show up before an inspector finds them.

From another SDS system: export your inventory to CSV or Excel and import it as is. Then print GHS workplace labels on Avery or Zebra stock and put a QR code on every container, and the binder you just replaced is on every phone on the jobsite.

Who does what

  • The office admin imports the list, uploads the sheets and prints the labels.
  • Foremen and workers sign in with a QR badge. No email, no password, and they are free on every plan.
  • Subcontractors get their own portal, and guests see the jobsite's SDS through a link, on every plan.

Your records stay yours

Moving in should never mean getting locked in. Full record export is open on every plan, at any time.

Switching questions

CSV, XLSX and XLS files up to 25 MB. A bigger workbook splits into smaller files you import one after the other.

Only the product name. Manufacturer, CAS number, signal word, GHS pictograms, H and P statements and an SDS link come in too when your file has them, and common column names are matched for you.

Nothing doubles. A product already in your inventory, with the same name, manufacturer and CAS number, is skipped, and so is a product listed twice in the same file.

50 on the free plan, 300 on Starter, and no limit from Pro up. Workers, foremen and subcontractors never count against any plan.

Yes. Full record export is open on every plan, at any time, and it is never tied to a subscription.
